Adobe Acrobat Sign integrationAdobe Acrobat Sign and M-Files: contracts signed and filed without leaving your vault
Acrobat Sign is the e-signature service in Adobe Document Cloud. Signers use a simple e-signature or a qualified cloud signature, and M-Files files every signed document and its audit report in the right file.
Illustrative example
In short
Adobe Acrobat Sign is the e-signature service in Adobe Document Cloud. It supports simple, advanced and qualified electronic signatures under eIDAS, the last through cloud signatures from qualified trust service providers. Integrated with M-Files, a signing request starts from the document in M-Files, status and reminders are followed there, and the signed version plus the audit report return automatically to the right file. SoftAdvice configures the integration.
One service for everyday and high-assurance signatures
Acrobat Sign lets you match the level of proof to the document. A routine agreement can go out with a simple e-signature, while a contract that needs the weight of a handwritten signature can be signed with a qualified cloud signature from a trust service provider of your choice. Combined with M-Files, every route ends in the same complete file.
- Choice of signature level: simple, advanced or qualified under eIDAS, with qualified cloud signatures such as itsme
- Signer identity checks that fit the risk: password, SMS code or a government ID with a selfie
- Flexible routing: sequential, parallel or mixed signing order, plus bulk sending with one agreement per signer
- An audit report per agreement, and a signing page in many languages, including Dutch, French and English

M-Files stays the source of truth, Acrobat Sign handles the signature
You do not switch tools or re-upload files. The signing request starts and ends inside M-Files. SoftAdvice configures the integration once; your team simply uses it.
Start from M-Files
Pick the document, choose the signers and their role (client, internal, external) and start the signing flow with one click.
Status, reminders and order
Track who signed, who is still pending and which steps are queued. Signing order and automatic reminders are set per flow.
Audit-proof file
The signed version and the signing evidence return automatically to the right file in M-Files, with the right metadata.
Where Acrobat Sign and M-Files pay off fastest
Sales and contract management
Quotes, SLAs and contracts follow a set signing order, and the signed copy lands in the customer or contract file.
HR departments
Employment contracts and policies sent in bulk, one agreement per employee, each filed in the personnel file.
Organisations already on Adobe
Teams that work in Acrobat and Adobe Document Cloud keep a familiar signing experience, now connected to M-Files.
Frequently asked questions
Are Acrobat Sign signatures legally valid?
Yes. Acrobat Sign supports the simple, advanced and qualified electronic signatures defined by eIDAS. A qualified signature, created with a certificate from a qualified trust service provider such as itsme, has the same legal value as a handwritten signature in the EU. We help you choose the level per document type.
Where are the signed document and the evidence stored?
The signed version and the Acrobat Sign audit report return automatically to the right file in M-Files, with the right metadata, so the file is complete for audits.
Can we set a signing order and reminders?
Yes. Signers can sign one after the other, all at once, or in a mix of both. Reminders are set per flow, and you follow the status in M-Files.
Can Acrobat Sign data stay in the EU?
Adobe runs Acrobat Sign from European data centres for customers whose account is set up there. We check the hosting region with you when we plan the setup.
Do we need an Acrobat Sign licence?
Yes, signing runs on your own Adobe account. We advise on the right setup for your signing flows.
