DocuSign integrationDocuSign and M-Files: send contracts for signature without leaving the file
DocuSign handles the signature, from a simple e-signature to a qualified one with itsme. M-Files starts the flow and files the signed document and its certificate of completion in the right place.
Illustrative example
In short
DocuSign eSignature is a platform for sending and signing agreements electronically, with simple, advanced and qualified signatures under eIDAS. Connected to M-Files, a signing flow starts from the document in M-Files, status, reminders and signing order are followed there, and the signed version plus the certificate of completion return automatically to the right file with metadata. SoftAdvice installs and configures the connector.
One platform for every signature level, from routine to qualified
DocuSign covers all three eIDAS signature types, so a routine order form and a contract that needs a qualified signature can run on the same platform. You choose per document how strongly the signer is identified, and every completed envelope comes with a certificate of completion that records who signed, and when.
- Signature levels to match the risk: simple, advanced and qualified signatures under eIDAS
- Qualified signing with itsme in Belgium and the Netherlands, next to SMS codes, access codes and ID verification
- Built for volume: reusable templates, bulk sending and serial, parallel or mixed signing order
- Evidence on every envelope: an audit trail and a certificate of completion

M-Files stays the source of truth, DocuSign handles the signature
You do not switch tools or re-upload files. The signing request starts and ends inside M-Files. SoftAdvice configures the integration once; your team simply uses it.
Start from M-Files
Pick the document, choose the signers and their role (client, internal, external) and start the signing flow with one click.
Status, reminders and order
Track who signed, who is still pending and which steps are queued. Signing order and automatic reminders are set per flow.
Audit-proof file
The signed version and the signing evidence return automatically to the right file in M-Files, with the right metadata.
Where DocuSign and M-Files pay off fastest
Sales and procurement
Quotes, purchase orders and supplier agreements signed from the deal or supplier file, with bulk sending for recurring documents.
HR
Employment contracts and policies signed in the right order, with the signed copy filed per employee.
Legal and financial services
Agreements that need a qualified signature, signed with itsme and kept with their certificate in the client file.
Frequently asked questions
Are DocuSign signatures legally valid?
Yes. DocuSign offers simple, advanced and qualified electronic signatures under eIDAS. A qualified signature, for example with itsme, has the same legal value as a handwritten signature in the EU. Which level you need depends on the document; we help you decide.
Where are the signed document and the evidence stored?
The signed version and the certificate of completion return automatically to the right file in M-Files, with metadata, so the file is complete for audits.
Can we set the signing order and send reminders?
Yes. Signers can sign one after the other, at the same time, or in a mix of both. Status and reminders are followed in M-Files.
Do we need a DocuSign licence?
Yes, signing runs on your own DocuSign account. We advise on the right setup for your documents and signature levels.
Can our data stay in Europe?
DocuSign stores agreement data in one data center region, and Europe is one of them. The region is set when the account is created and cannot be moved later, so we check it with you at the start.
