Hix integrationHix and M-Files: annual accounts and client documents signed from the client file
Hix is a Dutch platform for accountancy firms, with advanced and qualified e-signatures. You start the signing flow in M-Files, and every signed document returns to the right client file with its evidence.
Illustrative example
In short
Hix is a Dutch software platform for accountancy and administration offices. Its Hix Signing module signs annual accounts and other client documents at eIDAS advanced or qualified level. Integrated with M-Files, a signing flow starts from the document in M-Files, status and reminders are tracked there, and the signed version plus the signing evidence return automatically to the right client file. SoftAdvice configures the integration.
Built around the Dutch accountancy cycle
Hix is made for accountancy and administration offices that share tax returns and annual accounts with their clients and need approval or a signature back. Hix Signing adds the signature to that process, and every signed document gets an audit trail that shows who signed, when and from which IP address.
- Two legal levels: advanced signatures by default, with identity confirmed by SMS or an authenticator app, and qualified signatures with a KPN or Cleverbase certificate
- Signing order in rounds: each signer only receives the document once the previous round has signed
- Fields per signer: signature, initials, stamp, date or text, placed on the document and linked to the right person
- Annual accounts: after the client approves, Hix can file the publication documents with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK)

M-Files stays the source of truth, Hix handles the signature
You do not switch tools or re-upload files. The signing request starts and ends inside M-Files. SoftAdvice configures the integration once; your team simply uses it.
Start from M-Files
Pick the document, choose the signers and their role (client, internal, external) and start the signing flow with one click.
Status, reminders and order
Track who signed, who is still pending and which steps are queued. Signing order and automatic reminders are set per flow.
Audit-proof file
The signed version and the signing evidence return automatically to the right file in M-Files, with the right metadata.
Where Hix and M-Files pay off fastest
Dutch accountancy firms
Annual accounts and related documents signed per client file, with the evidence attached automatically in M-Files.
Administration offices
Client documents that need approval or a signature, started from the client file instead of from a mailbox.
Multi-signer approval flows
Client first, then the accountant with a qualified signature, in a fixed order that M-Files tracks.
Frequently asked questions
Are Hix signatures legally valid?
Yes. Hix Signing works under the European eIDAS rules, with advanced signatures by default and qualified signatures for users with a KPN or Cleverbase certificate. A qualified signature has the same legal value as a handwritten signature in the EU.
Where are the signed document and the evidence stored?
Both return automatically to the right client file in M-Files, with the right metadata, so the file is complete for audits.
Can we set a signing order and send reminders?
Yes. Hix works with signing rounds, so each signer only receives the document after the previous round. Reminders go out for documents that are still open, and you follow the status in M-Files.
Do clients need to install anything to sign?
No. Signers receive a personal link by e-mail and sign in their browser. For an advanced signature, their identity is confirmed with SMS or an authenticator app.
Do we need a Hix licence?
Yes, signing runs on your own Hix account. We advise on the right setup.
